Is it possible to get RSS Feeds by sending a querystring for the category to the syndicate.axd?

From looking at the code you can get feeds by author, category, comments and post. For author you specify the author name; for category you specify the category identifier; for comments you will get the recent comments; and for post you specify the post GUID and you will get all its comments.

If no parameter is specified you will get all the latest posts. It is not obvious that you can get more information than that.

Is there a sample of this?

I have a category called asp.net but when I do

http://www.mysite.com/syndication.axd?category=ASPNET

ASPNET being just like the Text being outputted to the user, it gives me an error

I'm not sure why it is being implemented this way but you'll need to get the guid of the category to get the feed for it.

You can go mucking around in the xml to figure this out but the easier way to do this is to switch to the archives view (most themes have this) which shows a summary of all your posts by category and you can get the feed link to each category.

One word of advice if your handing this link out to others I would recommend creating a feed link on feedburner http://www.feedburner.com and then providing that url out. In case you decide to switch between blog engines all you need to do is go to feed burner and change the source url.

I know this topic is old but I recently experienced the same issue Inventis was having and figured I'd just post the solution in case anyone else was having it:
To use a specific category, use the "CategoryID" guid from your database rather than the "CategoryName".

Ex: http://www.mysite.com/syndication.axd?category=328d629a-6645-4016-9bdc-11f9e3ff9ad3

Where do I get the GUID? I"m using XML not a msql or sql server db.  Is this just the name of the category file?  I can't ftp while at work to get it :(

Thanks

If you are on a relatively recent version, you can use this:

http://www.mysite.com/category/feed/aspnet.aspx

Is there way to combine Category and Tag to pull out all Blogs with say "Category A" that's also taggedwith "Tag B"

I know that Category can be done as you've mentioned above and tags can be filtered by: /?tag=/Tag+B

I tried to combine the two but it doesn't seem to work for me.

Anyone have a clue on this one?
