Feature Request: Mobile Devices, themes and .browser files

Apr 23, 2010 at 10:56 PM

Hello, I'd like to request that Android (the user agent contains "Android") and iPhone (user agent contains "iPhone") be given at least an option to be treated as mobile devices. It might also be nice to look into Opera Mini (user agent contains "Opera Mini").

Which leads me into another suggestion of utilizing ASP.NETs built-in support of .browser files so that users of BE can change this on their own without having to go into BE.Core (at least that was the only way that I could find changing it). However, I'd think you'd have to move over the themes to user ASP.NETs native themes, but I'm not sure (I'm a UX person for .NET not a developer).

Hopefully that all makes sense. :)

It's pretty easy to add mobile theme for any device you like without touching core. Take a look at this custom mobile theme, it need some work (comments etc.) but you can get an idea how to tell BE to use your theme for device. Mobile is getting big and we are planning lots improvements in this area.
