Blocking Spam from a specific domain.

Hello Everyone;

I'm dealing with 2 domains that are constantly generating spam comments.  The domains use numerous email addresses, and usually come from different IP's.  Is there a way to block any comments from specific domain?

I tried using the following filters in the comments configuration section, but they are not working:

  • Block comments where website contains
  • Block comments where website contains
  • Block comments where website equals
  • Block comments where website equals

I have also applied the recomended fix for ping back spam:

"Go to admin/settings/advanced and remove check mark in "enable pingbacks" and "enable trackbacks" opting to not receive them."

As you can see the spammers are coming from:

I may have answered my own question by adding the following filters;

Block comments where email contains

Block comments where email contains

We will see ...

The filters above did not work, a new comment came in from

Name: payday loans
Country code: US
IP address:
User-agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; Trident/4.0; SLCC2; Media Center PC 6.0; InfoPath.2; MS-RTC LM 8)

Check this guide on setting up comment filtering/moderation. I'm guessing that you are using 1.6.x.x - you need to enable "automoderation" for filters to work.

Auto-moderation is on, but its only catching some of the emails from the offending domains others are going into the inbox.  Seems like there should be an option to block all emails from a particular domain.

In this case, you might have conflicting filters - it is white listed by IP and black listed by email. If so, remove that "allow IP" filter.
