Avatar Author Profile Pictures

Is there a way to upload profile pictures for users in My Profile Photo URL field. How can my users upload profile pics and how can I access them? I might not be finding it but is there a photo upload widget for user profile?

Not sure you can upload them directly into/through BE, but there *should* be a field in the user's profile that allows you to give a URL to a photo which will be used as the user's avatar. I have one in both my BE 1.6 and 2.0 installations.

I see that field too but I need my users to be able to upload their pictures from their desktop and save the url in that field. Is that possible with BE?

There is a work around.

Give users permission to make a post or page.

Have them add image.

View the html after the image is incerted.

It gives them the URL to the image they uploaded.

Should look like this :  http://www.bloggersonline.com/Kbdavis07/image.axd?picture=2011%2f2%2fEA.JPG

<p>[No text]</p>
<p><img src="/Kbdavis07/image.axd?picture=2011%2f2%2fEA.JPG" alt="" /></p>  <--- URL

/Kbdavis07/image.axd?picture=2011%2f2%2fEA.JPG"  Just put your domain before it.

to make it

http://www.bloggersonline.com/Kbdavis07/image.axd?picture=2011%2f2%2fEA.JPG

after that they can delete the post or page.

Put that URL in their profile in the image field.

Thats a work around for this issue for now.

Maybe one day BE will have an File Manager on it.  This will make it easier to do.

You should edit your link to your blog:)

I added a file upload field through visual studio and added that uploaded link to the photo Url field and it worked. I took the logic from the post page for image upload with a few additional restrictions and modifications to allow only certain type of images.
