Tracking code and blog engine?

Feb 6, 2011 at 7:45 AM

Hello, can anyone please tell me where is the best place to put the google analytics tracking code in blog engine? I was thinking you only put it in the mater page and it appears on all pages that draw from it, am i correct in this?

Thanks

Werner van Deventer has created a nice widget/extension which takes care of the most
http://www.deventerprise.net/Projects.aspx

I am using it on my blog without any glitches from what I have seen :)

What does this have to do with my question?

Hmm what was your question? Oh yes "where is the best place to put the google analytics tracking code in blog engine"
My answer was "place it in an extension"

What exactly does that program do? It looks like external and not an extension

The extension is at the bottom of that page: http://www.deventerprise.net/Projects.aspx#gae

It's just a single code file that you can extract to App_Data\Extensions and then configure it from BlogEngine's Extension control panel.

What's the benefit of using the Extension versus Tracking Script field in the Admin panel?

Also, I think it's better to use this link for the extension as well: http://dnbegallery.org/cms/List/Extensions/GoogleAsyncAnalytics

It's the same extension as the one on deventerprise.net but this link is coming from the official BlogEngine.NET Gallery, so it might be better to use this.

Whats the difference between using this extension to using the tracking implemented in blog engine?
