I am looking at the admin page and did not find any way to change passwords.

The admin can change a users password in the user xml file or the user database file if not using xml.

If your theme does not have "change password" link in the admin menu, you can always go to

Ok so what happens if you forgot the password?

You need the old password to change it and you don't have it, the Admin does not seem to have a direct control over other user's passwords.

What is the HASH code  MD5 ??  is there a way to change the admin password without using the front-end?

I am wondering if I need to install it to a new db and then just cut and paste the SQL HASH from one DB to the other, is this what one has to do
change his own password in the app if one just happens to foget it and is not running an SMTP service.

I believe you can change passwords in the xml or database file, I changed hashed to clear in the web.config to make it easier to work with passwords.
