There is no current media manager. This has to be done server based.

However I am currently working on an add-on that will take the file management of BE to another level (i hope) :) should have a working prototype in a couple hours.

Should do:

  1. async file upload
  2. secure file management, blog instance based (no cross-blog security issues)
  3. allow for cropping, resizing, rotating images
  4. renaming files
  5. deleting
  6. Appending files to your Editor
  7. Append inplace, so it appends the file (link \ image) into the current position of the MCE editor.

Should have screenshots soon.

This will be embedded into blogs in the near future.

Cheers, Nico

Why not? It think that will be good thing a media manager like wordpress and so.

Will be a module / feature of BE?

I am not part of the BE dev team, I am developing this as a 3 party..... But will actually require A TON of changes to a single BE instance and will not be part of the BE upgrade path unless it is inducted into their release patterns.

Maybe they will make it part of the system.

Just to add the situation of refreshing the page to insert a file \ picture is rediculous. The solution as it stand now can include a file \ picture at the current caret position.

However BE is an amazing framework and i think they can do wonders with it... Just takes some patients.
