Just curious if anyone was interested in having nested or threaded comments. I have a few posts with over 50 replies and with flat comments, it's never quite clear who is replying to whom. I thought it would be fun to work on if anyone else wanted it.

I think that at the very least you should be able to mark a comment as being in reply to another particular comment. I'm not so bothered about having all the comments sorted out into a tree view as that can actually make it harder to spot what's new.

This is one of the last things holding me back from switching my current custom built blog to BE.NET. I currently have nested comments and want to keep the user experience the same (as far as comments are concerned) when making the switch.

I have created a work item for this: Threaded Comments

I would be willing to work on this myself as I will have some time free in a few weeks and I have been meaning to contribute here for quite some time.

I found a post on blogengine which supports nested comments.

Is the feature already available?

He is using a comment service called DISQUS http://disqus.com/.  Although this does solve the problem of threaded comments, you will lose the ability to include comments as part of the search criteria when searching via BE.NET.

I am using Disqus in place of CoComment or the other out-of-the-box solution and I really like it.
gives me all the goodness of threading etc but also lets me manage spam (approve, delete etc) via email notifications so even when I'm on the road I don't suffer.
Would love to see an option to include Disqus or IntenseDebate just as a config selection... (getting it working on my site required some tweaks to have different postview for the homepage and a post)

Hi - I have gone down the Disqus path also, I wrote up a blog entry on what I needed to change to do this: http://www.hamishgraham.net/post/Enabling-Disqus-Comments-in-BlogEngineNET.aspx
