We are getting internet hits to feeds.feedburner.com every hour from the blog application. How can we turn off this access to feeds.feedburner.com?

Log in as admin, go to settings/feed and look at "alternate feed url". If you have feedburner URL there and don't want to expose your feed over internet, clear this out and feedburner should stop pinging you. Sure, all your subscribers will stop getting updates on your posts, but if that's what you want...

I did that and reset IIS, but and I still see a lot of activity trying to reach feeds.feedburner.com. Is there anywhere else where the application can be accessing feeds.feedburner.com?

Yes, blogroll widget also likely has URL's pointing to feedburner. You can maintain them from admin/controls/blogroll.
