Have any idea?

Well, I think it's a problem of my ISP, because when I surf using an anonymizer proxy, BE site loads without problems.

Could be locale/language problem, sometimes UTF8 encryption breaks in specific language on some character that works perfectly well in others. Then going through proxy would override your local settings.

What language do you use?

I use UTF8, I change to automatic selection but got the same problem.

I have this problem on my two PC: HOME, with Windows 7 using IE9 and Chrome; and WORK, with Windows XP SP3 with IE8 and Chrome.

Both PC have the same ISP (Telecom Italia Alice), 2 different connection, not the same DSL.

Could be a wrong black listed IP added by this ISP, on their DNS?

This problem continues even if I use Open DNS.

If I open a page or post (not the home page) of BE site, from Google search for example, I have no problem.

Yea, when I switch to Italian I'm also getting this. Looks like date conversion issue, I'll check this out later today, thanks for reporting.

Now (about 11.00 am in Italy) BE home page works fine on my WORK computer, with IE9 and Chrome. Later, I will check from home.

Thanks, and have a nice day, bye! :-)

So, BE home page works fine at home, too; thanks @rtur for fixed!

C'ya!

I am experiencing the same problem from Slovenia's ISPs with both IE9 and Chrome. Something's obviously wrong with the site.

Wow... did not expect it to work for some cultures but not for the others. I hope now it will work for all.

Nov 10, 2011 at 9:46 AM

Works for me now!

Nov 10, 2011 at 9:00 PM

rtru, let me ask: this problem is about a particular version of BE?

No, it is not in BE proper, it was custom code (theme contest) calculating how many days left until voting begin.

BTW, it is only 5 days left - just enough to put together nice pretty theme over weekend and get yourself new shiny phone or xbox ;)

Nov 16, 2011 at 2:07 PM

Hi rtur, today it is presented the same problem of the past day.

Maybe another problem for custom code (voting theme contest)?

Have a nice day :)
