Hello everyone! I just installed newer version of BE (2.5) with multiple blogs feature, but when I trying to create new blog, I get error message "An unexpected error occurred: Internal Server Error", what it could be? how I can resolve this issue? How I can see full error description (in traditional style, I mean without Ajax popup message). p.s. I enable logging on the blogengine, but I can't find any log files on the webserver...

Try to turn off custom errors so that real error will show up. You need to modify your web.config for that:

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<customErrors mode="Off"/>

Thanks for your reply, but unfortunately it doesn't work because errors in ver. 2.5 handled by ajax (at least for the Blogs.aspx page):

error: function (xhr, ajaxOptions, thrownError) {
                    ShowStatus("warning", "An unexpected error occurred: " + (thrownError || ""));

...if I remove this piece of code - it's stop working, unfortunately I'm not a 'guru' in JavaScript and have no idea how to struggle with this.

Hi allaire, do you have write permission on app_data folder? Can you create and save new page or category (different code but also require write permissions)?

Hi rtur, yes, I can create and save new page, it means that everything is ok with write permissions on the app_data folder...

I have the same problem, Everything works fine but I cannot create new Blogs. It displays a Yellow Notification above the page

"An unexpected error occurred: Internal Server Error"

 I also cannot create new user. It don't show me any error messages but I cannot add new users

Hello everyone. I have the same problem when I upload the application running on windows server 2008 R2 (64). All works ok when is running on Vista or Win 7.

I can't create any blogs and any users, but I can create new entries and run other functions that modifies AppData directory (like write a publication that works ok). I can't delete one publication entry from the admin section, but I can do it from the delete publication link on the publication page.

When I try to create new blog server returns the error "An unexpected error occurred: Invalid JSON". When I try to delete publication (blog entry) from admin section I don't recieve any response. When I try to create new user new user dialog appears, but nothing happens when I accept it.

I think is not a credentials issue. I think is a problem with asynchronous requests.

May be an update of .NET 4.0 framework is required? Or there are any problem or dependency with any component, library or whatever on Windows 2008 R2 server?

Simply re-installing .NET Framework 4.0 from this link on your server, reboot, and voila! Works!
