SQL DB Support. Version 1.4?

Jun 13, 2008 at 7:12 PM
I would like to use SQL as my database instead of XML.  I noticed on the roadmap page http://www.dotnetblogengine.net/page/road-map.aspx it says version 1.4 might support this for release in spring of 2008. My question is does anyone know the status of the 1.4 release or when there might be support for SQLDB?

If its not going to be available soon.  Does anyone know what it would take to hook into say MSSQL 2005 instead of XML in App_Data?

Thanks,

1.3 supports MSSQL 2005 out of the box, there are other providers developed by community (MySQL, VistaDB etc.). 1.4 will support generic SQL provider that can run against any T-SQL compliant DB.

Hi, I wrote a BlogProvider that works against SQL Server Data Services (http://www.microsoft.com/sql/dataservices/default.mspx). You can find details (including download for the source code, tests, etc.) here: http://blogs.msdn.com/eugeniop/archive/2008/06/11/another-ssds-sample-blogengine-net-on-ssds.aspx

I've included tests for it as well, so if you are planning to write your own provider, they might come handy.

Note to the BE.NET project coordinators: it'd be great if you guys include tests in your releases for the core components of the app, especially for the extensible pieces (e.g. the provider).
