Anyone using MonoDevelop?

Oct 4, 2008 at 4:05 PM
Is anyone around here using MonoDevelop for working on the BlogEngine.NET source code? I'm trying to open the solution in MonoDevelop 1.0, but it can't open the BlogEngine.Web project because the project type is not recognized. Any workarounds for this problem?

I have found the solution for this myself:
  • Create a new Web Project in MonoDevelop and call it BlogEngine.Web and use the existing directory
  • Add all the existing files and subfolders
  • Add references to BlogEngine.Core and System.Data (the last one is missing by default)
  • Under project options make sure that you untick all the .cs files in the BlogEngine.Web project. This because it will otherwise generate a lot of error messages about duplicate declarations as MonoDevelop 1.0 doesn't handle partial classes and web projects very well. The real compilation of these classes will happen during runtime under the xsp2 web server.
