Am I going about this correctly (multi-user blog)?

I'm looking to create a multi-user blog site similar to something like CNN's by using BE.

My plan was to build a public user registration page and they're registered, I'd also implement code to create a new category specifically for the user (i.e. when John Smith signs up, I'd create a category called "John Smith's Blog").

I'd then manipulate the category portion of the "Add Entry" page so that the user can submit to any categories he/she wants (i.e. if the article is about how tough economic times are affecting sports, they could submit to the "Finance" and "Sports" categories).  In addition, the blog entry would automatically get entered into the user's personal blog category.

Obviously, there are several more steps I'd need to take to recreate the multi-user blog feature like that of but can anyone think of any pitfalls I'd need to avoid when taking this approach?  Or is there perhaps a better way?
