Hi there.
I have 2 questions.
1- I cannot insert any file to post. When I click "insert image" button, nothing happens. Why?
2- I've seen some people talk about 2.8.0.2. I tought 2.8.0.1 is the latest version of blog engine. How can I find this version?

Thanks, I need help fast. :(

I don't have an insert image button on my editor, but it does show up as on option when I right click inside the editor and works as expected from there. Two questions really:
  1. What browser are you using? I'm using Chrome 29.0.1547.76 m
  2. Are you using any popup blockers/noscript? The insert image window spawns in a floating element

Hi,
I have Opera, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Chrome and Safari with latest version. Not working.
I'm not using popup blocker and right click is taking URL, I want to upload a file :|

Ah, I see. Bit of an interface confusion going on here. You're correct in that the insert image from right-click assumes a URL. However, when I click on the Insert Image button on the top right just above the editor window (next to File Manager, Attach a File, Insert Video) I do get an upload popup asking me to choose a file to upload. Is it this button you were talking about in the first place? To me it seems the process in split in two; the one button to upload the image, and then the you have to insert the HTML code (<img src="/asdfsa/someimage.jpg" />) that references the image. Are you able to upload?

Yes, that button. You are right. I don't get upload popup windows (before this version I had)
I don't want to insert HTML code because that button does that for me. First uploads the image then put the HTML code inside editor.

Have you tried going through File Manager? It does the same thing, but just for any kind of file, not just image files. I also found this discussion:

And maybe this one:
https://blogengine.codeplex.com/discussions/401083

For the second one, I could see it being a file permissions issue. If the User linked to the BE.net app pool doesn't have read/write access to the folder being uploaded to I could see that causing a problem.

Hey,

First of all, thanks for helping me. I've checked the links that you gave. I belive the first one is the answer.

"As for uploads not working on click, this usually happens when you added javascript that conflicts with existing scripts, like having 2 jQueries with different versions can do nasty things to JS code. Take a look at your site in FireBug or dev tools checking for script errors."

I will check when I get free time.

Thanks again, my friend.

Well... I couldn't find conflict. I reuploaded scripts but doesn't work. I give up.

I'm having the exact same issue. None of the Insert Buttons work above the Post editor. File Manager drops down and appears to work, but nothing uploads as far as I can tell. I'm using all the latest browsers and Windows 7 with BE 2.8.0.1 . One error I noticed when watching the browser dev console load is:

IE10:
SCRIPT438: Object doesn't support property or method 'uploadify'
filemanager, line 1 character 16959

Chrome:
Uncaught TypeError: Object [object Object] has no method 'uploadify' filemanager?

The only other thought I have is that I'm on a mobile broadband link that basically really sucks, especially on uploads. Anyway, I haven't done much troubleshooting and this is the first article I ran into. I'll report back if I figure it out...

P.S. When I google the error above and go to the uploadify site, I'm getting this error:

Fatal error: Class 'Gdn' not found in /home/uploadify_user/www.uploadify.com/forums/bootstrap.php on line 48

Here's the link:

http://www.uploadify.com/forums/discussion/10025/script438-object-doesnt-support-property-or-method-uploadify/p1

Anyone else getting that?

hi,

I too faced the same problem, but I tried and found the below solution worked for me, you can also try it
  • Check the permission on App_Data folder
  • Check the fileStoreProvider in you web.config
  • if you have fileStoreProvider as Database make sure your database is connected and working
  • if you have fileStoreProvider as XML provider make sure you enough permissions.
  • if you still have the problem, purge your log (from Dashboard), try inserting the image and then post the Error log over here,
I can help you on that.
Thanks

Hey mate,

Thanks for answering. I have no problem with permissions. I'm sure.

Also, I purged log then tried to insert image or file but pop-up didn't show up so log is still clear. No data.

I have no DB but XML. Didn't change anything on web.config for fileStoreProvider but I checked and
"<blogProvider defaultProvider="XmlBlogProvider" fileStoreProvider="XmlBlogProvider">"

I have nothing again but thanks for trying to help me mate. I belive it's jquery problem or some script issue as sumnone said.

Thanks!

I found this post https://blogengine.codeplex.com/discussions/446364, followed his suggestion on code changes, and it fixed this issue for me.

Hi there mate,

Didn't work for me. I belive the issue is about script. I can't even show the image insert pop-up but thanks for trying to help! :)

Not sure if you or anyone else is still having this problem, but I found a potential fix (it fixed the issue for me). Has to do with the Enable Optimization checkbox in the Advanced Settings tab. Turning it off fixed the problem for me.
