I upgraded to 1.4 and deleted the passwords in my users.xml file as suggested by Al.  After that I couldn't log in as my existing user, so I copied the virgin users.xml in from the new zip and tried to log in as admin:admin, but that doesn't work either.  I keep getting
Your login attempt was not successful. Please try again.

When you manually change a file like users.xml, if BlogEngine had already looked at the users file before you overwrote it, then BlogEngine will probably have the old users file cached in memory.  So, it's probably not aware the data in users.xml has changed.  If you haven't already, re-start your application.  You can do this by just overwriting the web.config file with itself or make a small change to the web.config file (e.g. add a space).  This should clear out the cached data and BlogEngine will look at the file on disk the next time you try to login.
