Is it possible to have running on two different servers but writing to / reading from a shared data folder so that the blogs are identical and kept in sync?

You can if you are using a database like SQL.

In theory if two sites are on a different server but using the same connection string to the same database should do the trick.

Why is it on two servers? Just wondering.

It's on two servers behind a load balancer for redundancy.

Is it possible to point the two instances to a shared virtual directory and store the XML data there, or must you use a SQL database as the common data source?

And if you choose to use the SQL db, are there other issues such as in-memory data on one server not reflected on the other (as referenced in other forum posts)? Has anyone successfully implemented BlogEngine.NET as a site running on multiple servers with a single data source?

if you have images in your posts, they are saved in one web server and if you connect to the other web server you don't see that image.
