I did a fresh install of blogengine from the downloadable code for stable.   Extracted fine, etc.  go to a browser and the site loads fine.   but have found 2 issues.

1. choose an option from the widget drop down, click add, and get a script error on the page, some unkown runtime error.

2. Go to the settings tab in administration, click 'Save settings', goes to the 404 page and say's can't find the page.

Wanted to pass that along. not sure if anyone else has seen this or if it has been addressed with changes to the code base already. If so, what is the process for getting those changes.

thanks

In your Web.config file, if you change the <customErrors> tag to the following, you'll get an actual error message instead of being redirected to the error404.aspx page when an unhandled error occurs.

<customErrors mode="Off">

This should help get to the bottom of # 2.  It might help with # 1 too.  If not, if you could post the error information you're seeing here, we'll have a better idea what the problem might be.

That did the trick. Thank you .  Ended up being a permission issue on the app_Data folder.  Didn't realize I hadn't set that in the testing instance.

Thanks Again.
