Upgrade fails (blank page)

I tried to upgrade BlogEngine from to 3.1.
But it failes, not sure why.

Here is what I did:

Remamed the old Blogengine folder to Blogengine_old in the inetpub IIS folder.
Did a "new installation" of Blogengine 3.1, logged in as admin and verfied logins worked.
Turned of the IIS services
Renamed App_data (3.1) folder to App_Data_old, copied the App_data (2.8) folder
Started the IIS server.

If I go to the default blog page I just get a blank page (still I can see the Blogengine (the key) icon in the addressbar in IE)

Tried to browse to http://localhost/Account/login.aspx and that page works fine.
Login with admin / admin and then im just back to the white page...

Closed the IIS services again, switched back to the orignal folder of 3.1 and renamed the migrated folder and then started the services. then the blog was ok again,
then I closed the server and tried to get back to the migrated folder but then it was just white again...

Are some files/folders corrupt in the app_data?!

Any ideas how to solve it?

I dont need all the settings and user accounts migrated, I just need the blogs, categories etc and then Im good.. If you have any other way to do a "lite upgrade".

Old version: BlogEngine.NET
New version: BlogEngine.NET 3.1
IIS version: 8 (Built-in in Windows 8)
Windows version: Windows 8

Best regards
