How do I install BlogEngine in ~/blog without decalring as an application?

I have installed BlogEngine in a subdirectory [~/blog] of my site in my local environment, declaring the blog folder in my IIS settings as an application, which works fine.

I have recently contacted my hosting company, who advise me I cannot declare my blog folder as an application in its own right (only the root directory).  Therefore I need to install BlogEngine within my current site, I guess in my root directory.

The trouble is, I have no idea how to do this, without affecting the blog or my site.

I'd like my blog to be from the www,mysite,co,uk/blog subfolder and work in the normal way.  Can anyone give me some pointers on how I can do this?

Default.aspx - I already have a default.aspx in my root directory, should this go in my ~/blog folder now?
What Webconfig settings do I need to change?
Will I have issues with theming?

I would be grateful if someone could advise me how to install this in the root directory but still remain in the ~/blog folder and appear to leave the current site untouched.
