That doesn't help much with recreating this error. So far I deployed 2.8 to 4 different hosts and none has this problem. If you only have it on your host, I'd likely need FTP access to your site to see what is going on.

I have a BlogEngine 2.5 blog hosted. I want to upgrade it to 2.8. How to update it safely keeping my posts intact?

Thank you rtur for your response.

Yes the download logic works on local.

But once I deployed to hosting server, the download not happening.

But this issue is happening in 2.8 version only.

It was working fine in 2.6 version. Recently I upgraded to new version 2.8.

Hi suthishnair,

I was not able to find a solution to this problem when uploading a document through the page. I ultimately had to just upload the document to a folder in the website and point to it directly with a hyperlink.

Main reason - no way to reproduce this error. Do you get this error on local install out of the box? Does it show up if you move this install to your host without any modifications? After you change provider? Basically I need to recreate it somehow to find out what is not working in your case.

Does anyone have a fix for Featured Posts Rotator Revisited v.1.0
that will work with BE2.8.0.1
Seems that most of the current extensions are outdated and don't work with the current versions of BE.
Maybe they could be deleted so that people don't waste time trying to install things hat don't work.

FOLLOW UP:

My pull request to allow compatible auth cookies between BE and another App using the same MembershipProvider and machineKey settings (described in the OP) has been accepted. To configure the behavior in the OP, you would set BlogEngine.SingleSignOn = true in the web.config.

Me too facing same issue.. I tried and added even the mime types for .axd and .axdx at hosting server.

But still getting 404 error. Even I posted another discussion, but nobody bother to help still..

I recently installed BlogEngine .NET, and can't get the [usercontrol] tag to work in blog posts (however it does work when I embed it in a Page). It just displays the tag content, and doesn't process it:

I'm trying to use an SEO control someone else created, but, as you can see from the image, I've also tried embedding the built-in PostList.ascx control, and it doesn't work either. Whereas if I add either control to a Page, it works fine. Has anyone come across this before? All the examples I've seen on the internet make it seem like it should be simple, but I can't figure this one out. Thanks in advance.

I just happened to be not logged in - noticed that the Lead Story does not appear when not logged in but appears if logged in as Admin.
Any idead why this is happening?

Hi, I am upgrading be 2.7 to be 2.8 (manually as I have alot of custom code). I am using the above commit (was afraid to use the latest as I am still using VS 2010 SP1 .net 4.0). When I try to compile I get this error:

Error 53: The type or namespace name 'Optimization' does not exist in the namespace 'System.Web' (are you missing an assembly reference?)...

and

Error 54: The type or namespace name 'BundleCollection' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)...

I noticed that the Bundles are not configured in Global.asax anymore it is now in a new App_Start.BundleConfig.cs.

Also, I converted the solution to a Web Application using the instructions here

Any info would be greatly appreciated.
