Theme installation Error

description

I installed BlogEngine.NET 2.7.0.0, no problem, but when I try to install a theme from the gallery, I get this error: "Error installing package, see logs for details". The logger.txt says, "BlogEngine.Core.Packaging.Installer.InstallPackage(freshcitrus): The type initializer for 'NuGet.ProxyCache' threw an exception."

Never had this problem before with BlogEngine.NET

I have the same problem. No extensions, themes or widgets can be installed.

Same problem here - I'm brand new to BlogEngine.NET (and blogging in general) so I figured it was a config issue on my part. I'm a little glad to see it's not just me, although sad there's no documented fix. I'll go digging about to see what might be the issue.

Easy fix - particularly as my blog's not yet published and I'm just mucking about locally - grant full read/write access to your site's folders to the user account running the site's application. Obviously the web app has to write to the /themes, /extensions, etc folders and it can't do that if it doesn't have access. Once you've set up the extensions, themes and widgets simply remove access again.

I also found, at least for themes, that you can just manually download a theme and extract part of it to a subfolder and BlogEngine.NET will just see it and make it available for use - it's nice when things just work the way you'd expect them to :)
