Blog.js' Global variables

Jan 9, 2008 at 12:14 AM
Can someone please tell me what would happen if I was to remove the following lines from the blog.js file.

// Global variables
var isAjaxSupported = (window.ActiveXObject != "undefined" || window.XMLHttpRequest != "undefined");

function $(id)
{
return document.getElementById(id);
}

As I have found this block of code to cause some issues with other js files.

This line is used to add comments. Without it, you cannot add comments.
var isAjaxSupported = (window.ActiveXObject != "undefined" || window.XMLHttpRequest != "undefined");

This one is used everywhere, so nothing will work without it.
function $(id)
{
return document.getElementById(id);
}
