Evening all,

Apologies if this has already been posted and answered but I couldn't find it.

I am getting the following error when I try to save the settings:

Could not save settings: Access to the path 'The_Path_To_The_Directory\App_Data\settings.xml' is denied.

I have the following setup:

1. The website is hosted in IIS 5.1 on my XP machine while I do the dev on it.

2. The blog is in a virtual directory under the main site.

I can get to the page and I can login and all seems to be ok it is just when I come to save something.

As far as I can tell there is read/write set against the app_data folder.

I'm sorry if this is a simple question but I am new to this and I can't quite figure it.

Thanks for the help.

App_data has to be read/write for identity that runs your application pool. You need to verify in IIS what application pool your site using, what user assigned to this pool and set this user to have write permission on App_data folder. Usually it is "ASPNET" or "Network Service" account, but you never can be certain.
