How to disable suggested topic box

Aug 14, 2011 at 5:13 AM

Hi,

When people come from google or other search engine, BlogEngine will present with the suggested topics box. However, I would like to disable the feature, how can I do it ?

Thanks

Take this code out of your  site.master page  in your theme folder.

For each theme you use you need to do this :)

<blog:SearchOnSearch ID="sos" runat="server" />

The ID might be different but look for   <blog:SearchOnSearch    <----------   This is what list the suggested topics :)

Changed MaxResults="3" to "0" ...everything worked as expected.

<blog:SearchOnSearch runat="server" MaxResults="3" Headline="You searched for" Text="Here are some results for the search term on this website" />

to

<blog:SearchOnSearch runat="server" MaxResults="0" Headline="You searched for" Text="Here are some results for the search term on this website" />

Thats a better option :)

Maybe in the future include the  SearchOnSearch in the Common Controls  like

the

Search field

With options for the:

  • MaxResults
  • Headline
  • Text

So this way its not hardcoded into the theme :)

Not a major issue but something nice to have :)

I have added it to the ToDo List   on the BlogEngine07 Additions Codeplex website.

If you want this feature too Vote for it   :)
