Using Blogengines Newsletter Widget with Gmail SMTP on Godaddy Server

Getting the newsletter function to work can be a pain when using a Gmail account on Godaddy. Here are the steps I went through
1. Set up a Gmail Account
2. Launch the blogengine on Godaddy medium trust server
3. Enter email settings -
Email address - me@gmail.com
SMTP server - smtp.gmail.com
Port number - I called godaddy on this one - 25, 80, 3535, 587 are the port options
Username - me@gmail.com (must have @gmail.com)
Password - ********
Other settings -
Enable SSL - check this
Send Comment email - check or uncheck (doesn't matter)

[SAVE SETTINGS]

So I have tried all the port numbers and nothing happens on their servers. On my test server (non-godaddy) it works, but we have designated a goadddy account for my domain so unfortunately using the test server is a no go.
Does anyone have the answer to this mystery??

Sincerely,
Jonny

Just a side note since I am still trouble shooting this. I have just gone in and altered godaddy's mx records to use gmail's servers on top of their default servers. I don't know if this is right but I guess we'll see in an hour.

smtp.gmail.com and ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM. Here is a good post on setting up MX records for gmail on godaddy for those that need it - http://www.google.com/support/a/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=33353
