using framesets in themes

Hi everyone,
I'm implementing a blog with an mp3 player, and I want the player to play without interruption on all pages.

That is, as users browse the blog, I don't want the page refresh to refresh the part of the page where my player lives.

I experimented with using AJAX to refresh only part of the page, but when users click on hyperlinks on the site this technique breaks down. AJAX will only work when the user clicks on something that causes a postback.

This leads me inexorably to the <frameset>. Has anyone implemented a theme using <frameset>? Is there any reason why this technique would fail?

No reasons, it will work just fine. Take a look at this BE site, it uses frameset:

If you want to learn how to built theme, take a look here. It doesn't explain framesets, but it cover basics you need to know.
