Loading Icon - just keeps spinning

Dec 29, 2008 at 2:19 AM
My blog is working properly, this is just a cosmetic issue.  When you go to the part of a page where you can post a comment, the "Loading Icon" is just sitting there spinning round and round.  If I click preview and then back to comment, it is gone and only reappears when it is supposed to (when you post a comment).

What would be the action steps to have this NOT visible on page load?

I did narrow it down to being able to remove this section of the CommentView.ascx file, however this "hack" also prevents the loading icon from being displayed at all
<div id="commentPreview">
<img src="<%=Utils.RelativeWebRoot %>pics/ajax-loader.gif" alt="Loading" />
</div>

EDIT: I spoke too soon.  Commenting out that image breaks the "Preview" portion.

This solution seems to be working... If anyone has a "better" solution, I am wide open to hearing it... Thanks a lot!!

I've also seen some people's blog have that Loading Icon animated GIF when you first get to the page.  Here's the "ideal" solution ...

1. Leave that original code ( <div id="commentPreview"> ... ) in there.

2. In the CSS file in your themes folder, make sure there is a "display: none" style for #commentPreview.  For example, in the CSS file of the Standard theme, you'll see:

#commentPreview{
    display:none;
    clear:both;
    min-height: 150px;
}

If you already have a #commentPreview section in your theme's CSS file, just make sure there is a "display:none;" without the quotes for #commentPreview.  If there isn't a #commentPreview section, then you can just add a simple one like:

#commentPreview{
    display:none;
}

I had that on my blog to. My solution was to just remove it.

haha, I feel silly now.  Thanks BenAmanda.  For some reason, both themes I have tried on my blog were behaving the same way so I dissmissed the css.  Such a dummy.
