Replace footer with "Add This" widget

May 7, 2009 at 9:03 PM
Hello,

I would like to replace the footer area that has the delicious, permalink, rss, etc., links, with an "Add This" widget - http://www.addthis.com .

Any suggestions or advice on how would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

It's pretty easy to do... Just get the code that they provide, find your theme's PostView.ascx file, and paste the code into the appropriate spot. Replace the portion that reads

onmouseover="return addthis_open(this, '', '[URL]', '[TITLE]')"

with

onmouseover="return addthis_open(this, '', '<%=Post.AbsoluteLink.ToString()%>', '<%=Post.Title%>')"

and you should be good to go.

Or, per this post, you can go to

http://www.mayankraichura.com/post/2009/04/14/Social-Bookmarking-Extension-for-BlogEngineNet-AddThis.aspx

and follow his instructions for a full-blown extension.

I just took the extension from MayanK's site and built one for DotNetSHoutOut, and DotNetKicks in a single Extention.  I think I will add AddThis.com, and DZone all to the same one as well.

I can post it here is someone wants it.

Hi Jason,

    You can try using this program to create customized extensions for BE.Net. Do tell me what do you think about it.
