Any way to disable postlist1 or cphBody from showing in index ?

I'm designing theme for blogengine and i want to use the usual widgets in the index of the site (default.aspx) but without showing the post list. could be archived through disabling :

<asp:ContentPlaceHolder ID="cphBody" runat="server" /> from themes site.master so it shows in all pages but not in the index

or by disabling <uc1:PostList ID="PostList1" runat="server"/> from default.aspx page so it shows in all pages but not in the index

so any c# code to disable/hide any of them in the index page (default.aspx) ? and let the post list to show normally in categories pages ?

I, too, would like to know how to do this.

My situation is similar - I have an index page, and want to use a /blog/ for my blog page.

My index page shows a few of the latest posts, but no other dynamic content.

I tried having my blog under the physical directory /blog/, but I wasn't able to reference the blog in order to just get the latest posts.

If there is a way to do the above, without an ugly display: none;  on each, it would be great.
